BACKBENDS:
basics and beyond

Join Lauren Aimée for an afternoon of heart opening, energising movement!

Explore the rejuvenating benefits of backbending!

Lets come together on the 18th September 2-4pm at The Boathouse, within Box End Waterpark, for an afternoon of lush heart opening movement, exploring various backbending shapes tailored to whatever level you are at. Whether you can comfortably fold yourself in half backwards (can anyone?!) or maybe perhaps backbending is quite new for you, we’ll be taking the time to move through some spinal mobility, core activation and a deep stretch for the front body.

The first hour of the practice will be dedicated to preparing the heart space to open, perhaps even using a little eucalyptus oil to help create a sense of expansion. You can expect shoulder and spinal mobility, creative sequencing combining moments of strength as well as deep stretch and after a short break, the second hour will be dedicated to exploring certain shapes more closely.

Backbends are a beautiful, invigorating practice, they allow us to find freedom in the body but we understand it’s common to fear these kind of shapes. For some of us they might feel quite comfortable in our bodies, but we need more core awareness, for others we might feel quite restricted in that direction of motion, but perhaps its us that could really benefit from backbending. Allow Lauren Aimée to guide you safely into these poses at your own pace, where there’s no pressure to practice a pose that we don’t feel ready for on the particular day, simply show up as you are, with an open heart and open mind, and see where it takes you.

If you have any questions or concerns ahead of this practice, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
